While having a discussion about our current POTUS my buddy stated that President Obama has far surpassed President G.W Bush in accomplishments and leadership. This got me to wondering why so many people are again split down the middle when it comes to our president.
While doing research here are some accomplishments that have been attributed to our current POTUS:
Passing the “largest” economic stimulus bill in American history.
Ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay military detention facility and abolishing “enhanced interrogation techniques.”
Setting a fixed timetable for withdrawing U.S. combat forces from Iraq.
Ordering 21,000 additional troops to Afghanistan and enlisting, with modest new assistance, European allies in a new multi-layered strategy there and in Pakistan, and setting a timetable for a drawdown of our troops.
“Returning science to its rightful place” by lifting the Bush restrictions on federally funded embryonic stem cell research.
Signing laws to expand children’s health insurance (financed by a 61-cent per pack increase in the federal cigarette tax the adviser did not tout).
Signing a law meant to improve the ability of women who allege pay discrimination to sue their employer.
Lifting travel and remittance restrictions for Cuban Americans who seek to travel more frequently to the island and send more US currency to their immediate family.
Appointed the first Latina to the US Supreme Court
signed a law supporting increased financial aid to severely injured war veterans, and their caretakers.
Banned offshore drilling until parameters for deep well safety procedures are clarified.
Put a hold on Artic oil exploratory digging until environmental impacts are clear.
Passed health care reform.
signed a hate crime bill .
The following are my views and my views only. I feel that our president is not the worst ever but as drastically changed America for the worse. It seems that problems I thought were fixed or on the road to being completed have been reset at zero because of him and are leading America and it’s people against each other and more away from our constitutional democratic republic fueled by capitalism.
My question is where do you stand and why? In an environment such as ours I feel that we must start a “no spin” conversation with facts and fix our republic. Thank you
Many times in our country people are quick to point the figure and state why the other person is wrong. I may be guilty of this from other posts and blogs but I’m not sure all I know is I’m not perfect. I may create a lot of enemy’s on what I’m about to say but it is MY truths and I account for no one else. My feeling s on gay marriage is “WHO CARES” really? If you are someone religious who feels it is wrong cool, knock yourself out and feel that way all day long, talk to your friends about it, post it WHATEVER! Because it is your right to feel what you want and you are supported by the first amendment to have the freedom of speech to say so. But stop with the idea that the more you yell at a homosexual or make banners or try to make laws that take someone freedoms away just because they are not like you. To me that’s a little hypocritical. You want the right to marry who you want, sleep with who you want, hold hands with who you want and study and follow the religion you want so I ask you why take that away from someone else?
If there are sinners in your eyes fine let them burn in the hell you believe in. You told them the world of god so they know and if they do not accept it they just let them be. If you are scared for your children whom I really have no idea why you would be because being homosexual is not contagious the last time I check, just keep them away from people you don’t like.
I’m not homosexual but I do believe in individual right and that’s EQUAL INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. Far is it from me to tell someone else how to be, live, look if I don’t want someone doing it to me?
Are you really an American if you advocate the loss of another’s freedom at the whim of your belief?
This is a fight that has been going on for a little while now and may not be in Main Stream Media. I have wrote my congressmen and as far as my response its seems Oklahoma will not back it (as of now). This is the way I see it, if its not broke dont fix it. There has been so much bureaucracy in our country latey do we really need more? Ever since there was the first radio station supply and demand have taken it to were it is with so many diffrent radio stations and morining-evening shows, news and the list goes on. Its has been a “you scratch my back ill scratch yours” type of industry. You give me the songs for free and ill play them which in turn will get you fans and people to buy your album. Is that really to much to ask to keep it the same?
Some say its “a kind of piracy” and others are mad that the artist is getting free publicity and still want money for there songs. Here are some places to check on on the subject.
